Three Months

Ryan turned 3 months on Friday (August 27). I can't believe my baby boy is 3 months old! He melts my heart every day! Here's a quick recap of what's been going on with Ryan this month:

*You are adjusting to California life well (wearing lots more long sleeves and pants!)
*Continuing to grow SO fast! (according to mom and dad's scale you are about 16 lbs!)
*You are now in size 2 diapers (those size 1 diapers are just too tight on your chubby little legs!)
*You're doing lots and lots of talking. I've even snuck in on you after a nap and you're just in your crib looking around talking to your crib bumpers
*You're starting some laughing and squealing.
*You have lots of personality, and you love when mommy talks silly to you. It's like you understand what I'm saying.
* Wearing 6 month clothes (and some of those are getting snug!)
* You're eating about every 3-3.5 hours now (thanks RYAN! that every 2.5 hours was getting tough on mommy!)
* You are taking 4 naps a day
* For the last week or two you've started to sleep through the night! (bedtime around 9 or so, "dream feed" around 11, then sleeping until about 7)
*You're really holding your head up good, and you can now sit in your Bumbo comfortably (even though you probably won't fit it in for long!)
*You like for me to sing a little to you before naps and you try to sing with me
*You've started to grab and hold on to things (especially your blanket, and it goes right in your mouth)

You are becoming such a big, strong, happy baby. People always say that becoming a parent is the most challenging and rewarding thing you will ever do, and boy is it true! Ryan, let me tell you--I cherish every minute I've had with you! I'm so lucky that God chose you for me and me for you. You've taught me so much already. I love you my sweet baby Ryan.

Little Chatter Box

For the past couple of weeks Ryan has really become a little talker! Usually it's right after he eats and gets settled and he'll just ooh and aah and smile and squeal! Sometimes he'll wake up from a nap and I'll go in to get him and he'll try to talk to me! The other night when we put him to bed Andy and I heard him on the monitor talking to himself. It was so sweet. I guess he's really figuring out his voice.
In this video you can hear me say "I love you" and then it almost sounds like he says "love you...I" (I know he's too young to actually be talking) but it was so darn cute! Enjoy! I know I keep watching it over and over again!
(oh yeah turn off the music-on the right side at the bottom of this page- to hear the video!)

Happy Birthday Andy!

Andy's birthday was on Wednesday so we made a special visit to see him. Ryan wore his 49ers track suit and his "I heart Dad" t-shirt. Andy had a busy day at practices, but I got to meet him for a quick lunch when they had a break. I brought him his presents then and the cake I made for him. It was a strawberry shortcake cake recipe I found here--delicious!
Happy Birthday, Andy! We are so proud of you for working hard for our family! In fact, I'm watching him play against the Colts right now as I update this! He's doing awesome :) GO NINERS! 37-17...woo hoo!

Us at practice:
"I LOVE YOU DAD"

Andy got to visit for a little while on Friday night. I love watching him and Ryan together. It's so adorable! Love those guys!!

Training Camp

It's always such a treat to get to see Andy during camp. We've visited him at the open practices twice this week, and even though it's only a few minutes together we love seeing him! Ryan loves getting to see Andy for a while. His eyes just light up! He's so proud of his daddy :)

2 Months

I can't believe my little baby Ryan is already 2 months old! He's getting so big SO fast! Too fast actually!
In his second month of life he's started to change so much! He is starting to develop a little personality-smiling and cooing and kicking all around. He's holding his head up really strong too! He's slept through the night twice now (not consecutively) but on average he's sleeping 4-5 hour stretches (we wake him up to eat around 11:30 then he sleeps until 4-5 AM then back to bed until 7:30-8 AM). I'm really hoping we can work on that during training camp so that when the season starts we can all sleep again! He's been practicing taking naps in his crib for the past couple of weeks too. I'm thinking in the next couple of weeks he might start sleeping there during the night. It will be sad but I think I might be able to sleep better not hearing every little peep!
Ryan has been quite a little traveler this July too! He has been to Sunset Beach, NC, Columbia, Westminster, Atlanta, and took a 5 hour flight to San Jose, CA. He did so good on the plane! He was awake and happy, eating, or sleeping the whole time. I was so relieved when we landed though. Now it's time to get readjusted to our west coast life as football season is about to begin.

Here's some updates on Ryan at 2 months:
Weight: 12 lbs 12 oz (76th percentile)
Length: 23 1/2 inches (76th percentile)
Still eating every 2-3 hours during the day (this boy STAYS hungry!!)

TWO MONTHS!
Napping in his big boy crib
Hanging out in his favorite seat
On his first plane ride
Hanging out with his second cousin, Bowers (4 months)
Please don't grow up too fast, Ryan! But if you'd like you can slow down that appetite :)
love, Mom

Ryan @ 1 month (right before he turns 2 months!)

Ok I'm a little late, but I wanted to do a post to update on Ryan's first month! He will be 2 months old next week-hey, better late than never, right!?!

Weight: 10 lbs. 2 oz (54th percentile)
Length: 22 1/2 inches (79th percentile)

He changed so much in the first month already. He was really working on holding his head up and just starting to smile. He's eating every 2-3 hours during the day and goes about 4 hours at night, but then goes right back to bed.
I really wish I would've taken a cute "1 month" picture, but maybe we'll start that next month. I did take these pictures on exactly June 27th so we can follow how much he grows!

Sunset Beach 2010

Every year we look forward to heading down to Sunset Beach, NC for the week of July 4th. This year we were packed full with baby stuff, and headed down for Ryan's first vacation! It was so fun and special to bring him down there. He did great on the car ride down, slept soundly when we strolled him on the beach, got to go for his first putt-putt outing and his first time at Dockside!
We always enjoy the week so much-spending time with family and friends, hanging out on the beach, and enjoying all of our traditions. We kept thinking about how it will be next year when our little guy is running around on the sand. We can't wait!
This year was a little different for us since we couldn't be out on the beach for as long with a newborn so I didn't get as many pictures as I would like, but here's some good ones I thought I'd share:

Happy 4th of July!
Seantel and Stefanie both made festive desserts!
Putt-Putt...I won't mention which teams won or lost...
Our girls trip to the Kindred Spirit- a long walk down the beach takes you to a mailbox where visitors leave letters and they are published each year.
Dockside
Hanging out on the beach
The girls doing their dance and Seantel spending time with Ryan.
Our growing family!
I can't believe this summer is almost over and we'll be heading back to CA soon. It really flew by. We're so thankful we've gotten to spend so much time at home with our family and friends, and they've gotten to see Ryan so much. We love y'all so very much!
